To do this you’ll require an anchor kit, safety harness, ropes, good pair of skid boots.
After purchasing this kit, you place the anchors over a rafter or truss, attach the first rope called the life line, attach the rope grab, the final rope and then yourself.

2. Wear the right shoes
Make sure you wear shoes or boots with rubber soles and a good tread to enable a firm grip on the roof and to avoid slipping and falling.
3. Clean your roof
Clean your roof regularly, sweep it to avoid stepping on nails or clearing it of debris that could make you trip and fall while on it.
4. Use a gutter guard
A gutter guard is a piece of wood added to the roof deck. It keeps your ladder in place protecting you while climbing and protects your gutters.
5. Avoid watery Roofs
This is self explanatory, on no on condition should you climb up on a roof when it is wet or raining as the roof is likely to be slippery and dangerous at that particular time.
